Empowering females of all ages across Turkey
Gender inequality remains a major obstacle in Turkey. Girls face prejudices and stereotypes, especially in football, which is seen as a male sport.In order to raise girls' awareness that football is a sport for everyone, Kizlar Sahada (Girls on the Field) seeks to empower girls and women of all ages across Turkey. Kizlar Sahada dedicates itself to creating opportunities for Turkish and refugee females to get involved with football by hosting tournaments and clinics.
In 2020, the football for good organisation launched nine football schools in disadvantaged areas across Turkey. In a safe space, participants practised football skills and learned important life skills such as health care, child protection, and gender equality. Gender equality awareness is a central component of high school workshops offered by Kizlar Sahada.
