Every Child is a Champion

Common Goal, AMANDLA and The Lego Foundation team up to launch Every Child is a Champion

Common Goal has collaborated with AMANDLA and The LEGO Foundation to implement ‘Every Child is a Champion’, an initiative focusing on supporting young people, especially in their early childhood development.

The project will combine the power of LEGO's approach of learning through play with Football for Good with the implementation of AMANDLA’s Safe Hub providing a safe space for young people to play, learn and thrive.

LEGO's leadership in playful learning and the Safe Hub’s transformative community programmes will combine to enable children to use their ability to learn about the world combining playing and high-quality education.

The initiative is an action and education-led approach with the aim of building a future where every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to shine, to learn and to lead.

“The approach that we're developing of Every Child is a Champion is intended to be replicable, adaptable and scalable,” said George Springborg, Head of Community at Common Goal.

“We know the challenges that we are addressing in this pilot phase in South Africa are challenges that exist in communities around the world.

“It's therefore crucial that the solutions that we're developing now can be implemented in communities all over the globe so that we are able to reach every child everywhere,” he said.

“We can't change this world alone,” added Lerato Rantsane, Development Precinct Manager at AMANDLA.

“Partnerships like these are very important to collectively change the circumstances of these young people.”
